Upon arrival, crew members should select the “Business and Foreign Passports” option on the entry visa form and state their purpose as business-related. African Film Fixers Zimbabwe submits the cover letter and required documents. The Ministry of Information reviews the application. Upon approval, payment is requested. Once payment is made, the permit is issued.

General Film Permit

A General Film Permit is required for all productions, whether filming in public or private locations. Issued by the Ministry of Information, this permit ensures that productions comply with local laws and regulations. The application process requires submitting a full shoot schedule and production book, and processing times range from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the shoot.

Drone Permit

Zimbabwe has strict regulations regarding drone usage. A locally registered drone is required for filming, and permits are necessary for operating in urban areas and national parks. The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority oversees drone importation, and a Carnet is required. Import fees typically include 1.5% of the equipment value plus a $400 clearing agent fee. It is advisable to work with a local fixer to navigate the permit process efficiently.
