Crew & Equipment

Seychelles suits luxury travel, fashion, hospitality and marine productions, with local fixers and resort teams used to hosting high-end shoots.

A local base of fixers, production assistants and boat and marine support is available; senior technical crew, stylists and specialist equipment are generally flown in, usually via Mahé.

Productions typically import camera, drone and underwater packages; boats, inter-island flights and marine support are arranged locally.

Accommodation availability and rates vary by season and should be booked well in advance. African Fixer manages crew and cast bookings, transfers and per-location logistics as part of production support.

Best Time to Shoot

  • April–May and October–November – Calmest transition months, ideal for water and beach work.
  • May to October – Drier, breezier south-east trade-wind season, cooler and clearer.
  • November to April – Warmer, wetter north-west monsoon with calmer seas but more rain.
  • Underwater visibility is generally best in the calmer transition periods.
Visa Requirements

International cast and crew should confirm visa and work permission requirements before travelling. Typical documents may include a valid passport, flight details, accommodation details, invitation letter, crew list and equipment list.

International Crew Accreditation

International productions may require local coordination, film permissions and supporting letters depending on the production type, locations and crew nationality, and should work with an in-country fixer or service company.

General Film Permit

Filming permits are arranged through the relevant Seychelles authorities, typically coordinated with a local fixer, and resort filming requires the resort’s own approval. National parks, marine parks and some islands require additional permissions, and international crew need the correct work permission (Gainful Occupation Permit). Allow lead time.

Drone Permit

Commercial drone filming requires authorisation from the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, and individual resorts and protected areas may set their own rules. Permissions should be confirmed in advance.

Equipment Customs Clearance

Professional equipment can usually be temporarily imported with the correct customs documentation. An ATA Carnet may be used where applicable, and equipment lists should be prepared in advance.

Safety and Security

Seychelles is very safe and well set up for high-end shoots through its resort industry. The main considerations are marine and weather conditions, inter-island logistics by ferry and small aircraft, and limited medical facilities outside Mahé, all of which should be planned into the schedule.

Rebates & Incentives

Seychelles does not currently operate a formal film rebate or cash incentive scheme for international productions, so budgets should not rely on a rebate.

African Fixer will confirm the latest position on permit fees, resort location costs and any incentives during planning, and manage permissions and inter-island logistics on your behalf.
